Parking at Concerts in the Park advice

Regarding the parking situation at Concerts in the Park:

Every year, we hold the American Cancer Society Relay For Life at Central Park. This is a 24-hour event to raise awareness of cancer and money for cancer research and advocacy.

It is a large event, comparable with Concerts in the Park, peaking at more than 5,000 people.

There are only about 600 marked parking spaces at the park, and this disparity brings on a whole bunch of parking problems.

We do our very best to maintain a drop-off area, expanded handicapped parking, RV parking and a quick means of egress from the park.

At our event last May, with diligence and enormous help from the Valencia High School ROTC, we managed pretty well. Also, thanks to the generosity of some local automobile dealers, we had a shuttle service from Saugus High School, which graciously let us use its parking lot.

These efforts alleviated many, but not all, of the parking problems for our event. We strongly suggest to those attending the 2009 event to carpool as much as possible and please do not park in the drop-off area.

The folks who produce Concerts in the Park are welcome to contact me for parking advice.
