Every week the Signal sales staff updates readers on local business news and tips it picks up while out in the field.

As the newest member of the team here at The Signal, I thought I would introduce myself.

I have been working in the Santa Clarita Valley since 1998 in Marketing and Web Design. While working in the marketing field, I often wondered which local websites received the most traffic and who I should use in my marketing efforts.  I was always confused between the number of overall site visits and unique visitors, as most everyone claims to “have the most traffic”. I did some comparative research and found that, had right at one million page views with over 140,000 unique visitors per month, exceeding the numbers of other local media websites by a wide margin.

For me, opportunity presented itself in the form of an unexpected job loss. So, the first place I looked for a job was The Signal. I wanted to work for a company with new and innovative multimedia campaigns that I could use to help local businesses be more successful.  I’m pleased to be part of such a dynamic team of people, and I am looking forward to finding new ways to represent you and bring revenue to your business.  I also hope to give you some great tips along the way.  Something I have learned and Norman Vincent Peale said eloquently, “In every difficult situation is potential value. Believe this, then begin looking for it.”

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and treated the DAD in your life to a nice relaxing day. If you took my advice and went to J. David’s Clothiers and got him a gift certificate for a custom made shirt or suit, I would love to hear how it went.

With June more than half over, the Fourth of July will be here before we know it. How will you spend the day celebrating? Hopefully, if you are out and about, you will be supporting all the local retailers, who are looking forward to a successful holiday and getting a jump on SUMMER sales. Let’s keep the momentum going from Memorial Day weekend and continue to show our local shops that we support them. Make every day a SMALL BUSINESS day.

Now that the kids are out of school, what are you plans to keep them entertained for the summer? Here are some ideas: a day at Six Flags Magic Mountain, Hurricane Harbor, Santa Clarita Aquatic Center or a hike on one of our many wonderful trails all around the Santa Clarita Valley.

Look for The Signal’s 11th annual Best Of section coming in September. Voting starts online at on July 1. The ballots will be in The Signal July 2. 3, and 9. VOTE, VOTE, VOTE your favorites.

I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Hello Santa Clarita,

Congratulations are in order to Brad Lanfranco, our new Advertising Director. Always upbeat and positive, Brad will help shine a new light for our team.

Today through Thursday, Audiology Associates will hold free hearing consultations, exams and demonstrations of the latest products by Starkey. I was amazed at the new SURFLINK Mobile, a device that can help you better hear your cellphone, television, music and more. It will certainly make life a lot easier for those in need. The best part is that it’s simple to use. Call 661-284-1900 to schedule your appointment today. They are friendly, experienced and ready to help you.

Summer is officially here this week, and being exposed to the sun, we need to take care of our skin. Check out Valencia Dermatology for your skin care needs. They offer many products that help to prevent sun damage, products for troubled skin, skin care checks for seniors and more. Call for information and ask about their monthly specials at 661-974-8666.

Enjoy your week. Work hard for your dream, then vacation.

What exactly IS a Sales Beat?  It’s a place for us in Multi-Media Advertising to share our thoughts with you, so you don’t miss a beat! There may be places or events taking place off the beaten path that you have yet to discover. We will help you find them. That’s what The Signal is all about, digging deep into our local community.

If you’re new to Santa Clarita you may not have heard about Backwoods Inn. It’s a steak house up Sierra Highway off Soledad Canyon Road on the right side.  They’ve been there since 1968 and they haven’t changed their food one bit since the beginning, because it’s delicious the way it is. You’ll get generous portions for a reasonable price. My mouth is watering now for the steak sandwich!

Thanks again for reading my column and I look forward to hearing your feedback!
