Volleyball: Foothill Invitational on the horizon

First of its lind tournament starts Aug. 10

The city of Santa Clarita has partnered with the Los Angeles Volleyball Academy (LAVA) to present the first annual Foothill Invitational High School Summer Tournament the weekend of August 10-12.

The six local Foothill League teams along with 16 other teams will participate in these games being held in and around the Santa Clarita Valley.

The volleyball clubs LAVA and LAVA North are currently operating in the area and helping spur the ongoing growth of the sport at the youth levels.

“Santa Clarita is the perfect location for a youth sporting event,” said Santa Clarita Economic Development Associate Russell Sypowicz. “The city is committed to supporting LAVA in their efforts to produce events that have a positive impact on the community.”

The tournament hopes to build on the expected successes after the first year in hopes that it great volleyball and team bonding.

Times and matches will be announced before the event.
