A boy was airlifted to the hospital after being hit by a car on Bouquet Canyon Road and Cinema Drive in Saugus on Monday evening, officials said.

A black vehicle driving on Bouquet Canyon Road hit the 12-year-old who was on the crosswalk at 7:27 p.m., said Engineer Eric Suarez of Los Angeles County Fire Station 126.

Firemen were returning to the station from dinner when they witnessed the crash and were immediately able to respond, he said.

“We saw the kid rolling after,” Suarez said. “It happened right in front of us.”

The boy was airlifted to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles as a precaution, he said.

The 12-year-old is believed to have a possible broken ankle, said Lt. Tom Bryski of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The female driver of the vehicle was not cited, he said.
