City officials are hosting an informational event Wednesday at the Santa Clarita Activities Center meant to update the community on the status of city efforts to eradicate local heroin use.

The city began the campaign “Heroin Kills: The High is a Lie” a year ago in response to a hike in heroin-related deaths in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Wednesday’s follow-up program will feature a resource fair at 6 p.m. with the main program happening from 7-8:30 p.m. Speakers will include Mayor Frank Ferry, SCV Sheriff’s Station Capt. Paul Becker and an emergency physician.
The center is located at 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway.
