I hope everyone enjoyed the three-day holiday. Now it’s time to buckle down, do your homework and get back to work! September is a busy month with fundraisers, events and activities. October will be even busier! Here’s a list of upcoming events you can clip and save on your fridge!

Evening Under the Stars

Michael Hoefflin Foundation’s Evening Under the Stars gala dinner and charity auction returns 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 at Mann Biomedical Park, 25104 Rye Canyon Road, Valencia. Catering by Salt Creek Grill, live entertainment featuring Journey tribute band DSB. This is one of the biggest charity events of the year — and also one of the most touching. Is there anything more difficult to understand than why a child has to battle cancer? Info:

Only a short trip away

Moonlight at the Ranch VI: Creatures of the Night, a fundraiser to support the Santa Paula Police & Fire Foundation and Chamber of Commerce will be held 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22. Honorary Co-Chairs: Bela Lugosi (Count Dracula) and Boris Karloff (Frankenstein) represented by special guests: Bela Lugosi Jr. and Sara Karloff. The costume-friendly event will be held at historic Limoneira Ranch on Cummings Road, in Santa Paula. More than 40 regional restaurants will offer tastings, dancing and entertainment. Library Grand Opening

Santa Clarita Mayor Frank Ferry and the Santa Clarita City Council, invite the community to attend the Grand Opening of the Old Town Newhall Library. The grand opening event begins at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29 and will include a street fair on Main Street, library tours, special guests and a ribbon cutting.

Theatrical Tea

Circle of Hope’s ninth annual Theatrical Afternoon Tea will be held noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6 at Mann Biomedical Park, 25104 Rye Canyon Road, Valencia. I see that this year’s event includes entertainment. I hope the entertainment is as entertaining as it was in previous years. Jordana Capra always did a fantastic job lining up some talented actors to serve tea and perform. I know all events evolve from their original formats, but I always enjoyed the fun that Lady Smyth brought to the festivities. It was those touches that made this tea such a wonderful event. I am happy to see that classic tea fare will be provided by Salt Creek Grill for this year’s event. Remember100 percent of the profits will financially assist those individuals undergoing breast cancer treatment in the SCV. Tickets are $55 each.
