Shuttle bus service in and out of Palmdale Airport will be studied over a nine-month period, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has decided.

At its regular meeting Tuesday, supervisors approved a motion made by Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich for the establishment of a nine-month pilot program to provide an express bus service to Los Angeles/Palmdale Regional Airport at a cost of $240,000.

The board also approved a motion too terminate its contract with P&D Consultants due to breach of contract involving work done on the Los Angeles County General Plan.

Bruce McLendon, Director of Regional Planning, told the board that the five-year contract with P&D ended up costing the county about $133,000 over the past four years.

The entire contract was for about $433,000.

He said the real issue behind the decision to terminate the contract was that contractor "declined to continue to honor" the contract and finish the work for the price agreed.

McLendon said he is not satisfied with the work that's been done by the firm but that the "real root" of canceling the contract is that the firm stopped working on it.
