Congressman Howard “Buck” McKeon, R-Santa Clarita, paid a $4,600 fine for failing to file his campaign’s 2011 Year-End Report in March, although an aide said the failure to meet deadline was due to an electronic glitch.

“Congressman McKeon’s 2011 Year-End report was electronically filed on time — a day early, in fact,” McKeon spokeswoman Alissa McCurley said Monday. “Unfortunately, there was an error in the electronic transmission of the file, and the report was not received by the (Federal Election Commission).”

Two other candidates were also fined for late filings — a Pennsylvania businessman running for Senate who has since dropped out of the race, and a man seeking the GOP nomination for Senate in Virginia, who didn’t make it past the primary.
