Getting what we deserve

It is said that we get the government we deserve. I think that is definitely the case right here in the SCV.

Our City Council is about to shortchange the entire valley, and the response is a collective yawn.

The City Council is voting on appropriating $21 million to build the rest of the cross-city connector.

It has been sold to the public as a public service to fix the traffic problems that over development has created.

However, I invite everyone to drive the open portions and check out the vast amount of land it will open up to developers.

This is nothing more than putting in the infrastructure for mass development.

I know that the City Council members have been pushing this agenda as a traffic solution. That was the same logic for the Plum-White's Canyon road.

If the housing market hadn't tanked, that road would be in full gridlock. But don't worry, it will be again, just as soon as real estate values rise and all the graded land is developed.

In fact, if you drive Plum Canyon, you'll see that it will connect to Golden Valley Road and open up almost every remaining piece of developable land in the valley.

Porta Bella is contingent on the road, as is the water the city claims to be cleaning to protect those of us who live here. That, too, is nothing more than a transparent attempt to pass public safety as the means for mass development.

Can't develop all those houses without the pro-development water company stating there is enough water even though every state in the west is in a drought and there is talk of water rationing.

Most residents moved to SCV to escape the San Fernando Valley, and the cross-city Interstate will ensure that we end up just like the San Fernando Valley.

I guess we get what we deserve!
