LOS ANGELES (AP) — The leading candidates for the office of Los Angeles district attorney say they will return campaign contributions from convicted felons.

The Los Angeles Times reported Saturday ( that Jackie Lacey will return $3,000 in donations from a developer convicted of wire fraud in 1999 and his wife, while Alan Jackson will return $3,000 to Victorino Noval, who was sent to prison for a mortgage loan scheme in 2003.

Lacey says she has no personal ties to real estate executive Kip Cyprus. Campaign consultant Parker Shelton says Cyprus' conviction did not come up when his contributions were vetted.

Jackson says he attended a Cinco de Mayo party at Noval's home. Noval described the event as a Jackson fundraiser on his Facebook page.

Both Lacey and Jackson are career prosecutors.
