Local school board officials moved to extend restraining orders obtained to keep away from local schools a Valencia man alleged to have threatened to hurt children, a Hart district spokeswoman said Thursday.

Eric Ting Yee, 21, was arrested Sept. 17 for allegedly posting comments in an ESPN chat room saying he was watching kids and wouldn’t mind killing them.

On Oct. 16, the Valencia High School graduate was handed two temporary restraining orders signed by a Superior Court judge ordering him to stay away from schools in both the William S. Hart Union High School District and the Saugus Union School District.

On Wednesday, school officials sought to make the restraining orders permanent.

“The TRO (temporary restraining order) has just been extended to his criminal court date, which has not been set,” said Gail Pinsker, spokeswoman for the William S. Hart Union High School District.

“At that time, we will pursue to continue the order in conjunction with court determinations on his case,” she said Thursday.

Yee posted enough money to be released from custody shortly after his arrest.

He has entered a plea of not guilty to one criminal count of possessing an illegal weapon.
