The fourth annual Rescues On The Runway will be held Saturday at the Hyatt Regency Valencia.

The event will feature 101 adoptable pets with a variety of pedigrees and mixes available, said event organizer Mardi Rivetti.

“With the bad economy the animals are the ones, who pay the price with their life,” Rivetti said. “This event is an opportunity for the public to adopt an animal that will fill your home with joy and warmth for the holidays, and for many years to come.”

Famous animal actor Lassie is scheduled to greet guests at the door with a photo opportunity at 3 p.m.

A holiday boutique will be open to the public beginning at 3 p.m.

Meet the adoptable rescues from 4 to 5 p.m.

During the Meet the Rescues event attendees will have an opportunity to adopt an animal, or can make a pledge.

“Pledge dollars are used to help save the animals currently on death row in shelters,” said Rivetti. “Please come and help save animals by either adopting or pledging a donation to help them.”

A separate dinner show will begin at 6 p.m. with tickets  costing $75 per person (which includes dinner and the show).

Guests can also attend without buying dinner for  $35 per person.

“You are welcome to bring your pet with you but must bring proof of rabies vaccination,” said Rivetti.

Dinner attire is cocktail and coat and tie. The dinner show begins with Marie Wise-Hawkins singing the national anthem.

The Celebrity Catwalk begins with appearances by Lassie and Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine and other surprise guest stars.

“We will then have the Rescues on Parade, where we welcome back dogs and cats that Rescues on the Runway has saved in the past,” said Rivetti. “Then we will hold the Doggie Beauty and Talent Contest. Dogs are judged and awarded for best bark, best tail wag, best ears, best costume, most photogenic, and best talent.”

The overall Top Dog will be chosen by the judges and receive a prize.

“Pledges can be made to help these sweet orphaned animals,” Rivetti said.

The event also features a raffle and silent auction.

“Don’t miss the opportunity to help homeless animals this holiday season at this beautiful adoption and fundraising event,” Rivetti said.
