It feels like fall, finally in the Santa Clarita Valley! I love the crisp evening and morning temperatures. It almost makes a person feel festive, as the holiday season approaches.

Festival of Trees

Festival of Trees to benefit the Boys & Girls Club is one of my favorite events of the year. This year’s crop of beautiful trees are among the best I’ve seen. It was hard to decide which tree or display was my favorite. However, the whimsy of the melting snowmen in the Six Flags Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor display melted my heart! I don’t know how designer Donna Bendell manages to come up with such unique ideas year after year! Kudos to Six Flags for their support of Festival of Trees and their 10th annual Grand Championship win!

Ronda and Ruben

I can’t even imagine the hours that Ronda Chobanian and Ruben Haynes have spent decorating trees for the Festival. Kudos to both of then for their fresh ideas and beautiful trees!

Most unique trees

Denise Morgana and Tonde Razooly are the designers of some of the most unique trees at the festival including the “Nightmare Before Christmas” tree, the 50 Shades tree and the Need a Vacation? Tree. Check out the Steampunk Tree also, designed by Sonia Biscuccia-Pearcy.

Santa at Festival of Trees

Santa will be at Festival of Trees today from noon to 6 p.m. You can have your photo taken with Santa for a $5 donation. If you want to  use your own camera, go ahead, but a $3 donation is requested. Today will be the only day Santa will make a festival appearance.

Holiday Home Tour

If Festival of Trees is open, then the Holiday Home Tour to benefit the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital can’t be far behind. The Holiday Home Tour Gala, will be held Friday, Nov.30. Guests attending this Preview Gala will enjoy an exclusive first look at the homes and enjoy a festive buffet dinner. Tickets are $100 and can be purchased from or 661-253-8051. The Holiday Home Tour will be open to the public on Saturday, Dec. 1. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at Homes are open from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The Holiday Home Tour events also include an indoor holiday gift boutique at Hyatt Regency Valencia at 24500 Town Center Drive in Valencia on the day of the tour. The boutique is free of charge and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
