Robert Stauffer: What ever happened to meaningful rock lyrics?

Years ago, rock musicians would come out with songs that were outspoken and critical about social and political ills.

But I must admit I am not surprised rock music is coming out with many songs that are critical of the government today, because it turns out that most of today’s entertainers are lefties in the tank for Obama.

But if there were some emotional, meaningful or critical rock songs about the current political/social scene, we might have hit songs like these:

“Four Dead in Benghazi” (like four dead in Ohio)

“Vegas and the View” (oooh, oooh, oooh, it’s on you)

“Blame the Video” (and America)

“Drone Barry Drone” (live — Double Gonzo)

“Our Flag Was Not There” (really sad).
