Small Business promotion day set

Giving a boost to small businesses for the holiday season, American Express is launching its third annual “Small Business Saturday” campaign Nov. 24.

Last year, more than 100 million people came out to shop at independently owned small businesses across the nation on the day, according to the global credit card company.

Dominique’s Jewelry in Canyon Country is participating in the promotion to bring new customers into the store, and owner Dominique Canavati-Anglin is offering a 20 percent discount to shoppers that day. Her discount is being offered through an ad she’s running in The Signal, she said.

While the retailer specializes in the design and sale of unique items in natural and semiprecious stones, Canavati-Anglin wants shoppers to see how wide her selection of merchandise and how varied prices are in the store.

“I carry everything from jewelry pieces that sell for $5 to $70,000,” she said.

The retailer offers everything from jewelry for sale, to appraisals, stone setting, as well as casting by making in-house molds. Also a designer, Canavati-Anglin creates pieces for a jewelry manufacturer that sells to the large chains.

The Saturday between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is selected each year to boost small, independently owned businesses.
