Christian vocalists John and Mary Giger will perform at 7:30 p.m., Friday in the The Master's College Music Recital Hall.

The Gigers have served the Christian community with their musical talents for more than 30 years, performed over 4,000 concerts in many venues and founded John and Mary Music Ministries.

John and Mary pursued degrees in vocal performance during college and received training in professional opera with teachers such as Dickson Titus and Richard Dales.

John studied for several years with Caro Carapetyan of Dallas, Texas. He became regional finalist in the 1978 San Francisco Opera Audition, and resident baritone of the Hidden Valley Opera Ensemble of Carmel Valley, Calif.

Mary received tutoring in the art song from Madame Koldofsky, Samuel Barber, Natalie and Maurice Abravenel and others. She won the Western Metropolitan Opera Auditions in 1977, which gave her an appearance at the Met in the national semifinals.

The Gigers met when they portrayed a romantic couple in Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, Calif. After performing together in three more operas, The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute and La Traviata, they married in 1977.

The Gigers performed together at the National Christian Booksellers Association Convention, Moody Founders Week, MUSICalifornia, the Congress on Biblical Inerrancy and the National Religious Broadcasters Convention.
