A two-vehicle crash in Acton injured three people Wednesday and sent at least one person to the hospital, according to officials.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Red Rover Mine Road and Sierra Highway around 10:25 a.m. According to a release from the California Highway Patrol, the two vehicles, a Jeep traveling westbound on Red Rover Mine Road and a Ford traveling southbound on Sierra Highway, crashed into each other when both entered the intersection at the same time.

The three passengers in the Jeep suffered moderate to major injuries. Two adults were transported to Antelope Valley Hospital, one with major head trauma and the other reporting widespread pain.

The third passenger, an 8-year-old child, suffered major head trauma and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The lone occupant of the Ford was unharmed in the crash, according to the CHP release.

The child was airlifted from the scene to a nearby hospital, according to Inspector Brian Riley of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
