SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say 42 people are facing charges after a weekend party in San Jose got out of hand.

The San Jose Mercury News reports that more than 60 San Jose police officers and Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies ended up responding to a home around 11 p.m. Friday after people at the party threw rocks and other objects at officers called to the home.

Police say two officers were hurt, with one being treated at a hospital for moderate injuries, while a second officer was treated at the scene.

Police say some of the people "attempted to drag" another officer to the back of the home, but that officer escaped the crowd without injury.

The 42 people facing charges were arrested on various offenses, including some who were arrested on assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.
