Repertory East Playhouse: "W;t"
The Repertory East Playhouse, 24266 Main Street in Newhall, will continue its season with the 1999 Pulitzer Prize-winning drama W;t" by Margaret Edson (see review in this issue). The show runs through April 5 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for students and seniors, and $17 for everyone else. Persia Restaurant Persian New Year

Single Mothers Outreach 4th Annual Bowl-a-Thon
Single Mothers Outreach will have their 4th annual Bowl-a-Thon on Sunday, March 16 at Valencia Lanes, 23700 Lyons Avenue in Newhall, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the client emergency assistance program and the development of their technical center. Info: 288-0117 or

Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center: Vienna Boys Choir
The Vienna Boys Choir, which performed in the Performing Arts Center's 2005 opening season, returns by popular demand on Friday, March 14 at 8 p.m. Their repertoire includes contemporary, medieval and experimental music, as well as operas and world music. Tickets are $25-$50 and can be purchased by calling 362-5304, online at, or at the box office on the COC campus, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road. Just head into the Student Center and walk all the way back until you reach a set of double doors right across from the entrance to the kitchen area of the cafeteria.

Bouquet Canyon Church: SCV Antique Auto Club
Meetings of the SCV Antique Auto Club take place every second Saturday of the month at the Bouquet Canyon Church, 27000 Bouquet Canyon Rd. in Saugus, starting at 7:30 p.m. All kinds of classic cars are welcome. Info: 259-3570 or

COC's Black Box Theater: An Evening of Electronika
The College of the Canyons Department of Music will present their second Evening of Electronika on Saturday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m. The music is computer-generated by students. The free event is located in the Black Box Theater, and seating is first come, first serve. Info: 362-5304 or

SCV Senior Center: Contact Bridge
We know not one thing about bridge, but we're sure that many of you in the valley play often, or at least enough to know more than we do. There's a league for you, the American Contract Bridge League, playing Duplicate Bridge every Tuesday from 6:30-10:30 p.m. at the SCV Senior Center, 22900 Market Street. Info: 253-1105.

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church: Or Emet Purim Carnival and Megillah Reading
Or Eemet will have a Purim carnival & Megillah reading on March 16 from 3-6 p.m. on the premises of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 24901 Orchard Village Road in Valencia. There will be games, prizes and inflatables for the whole family. Info: 253-0596 or

College of the Canyons: Drum Circle
The Remo Recreational Music Making Activities Department is offering free community drum circles in Valencia, hosted by College of the Canyons, on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Everyone is welcome.

Drums will be provided by Remo Inc., but community members may bring their own drum, tambourine or other percussion instruments. The drum circle will take place in room STUC-13 from 4:30-6 p.m. Info: 294-5631 or

Valencia Library: Celebrating Women in History
The Valencia Library is currently celebrating Women's History Month throughout March, with performances by various women as historical figures. On Sunday, March 16, Suzan Gallerito, a member of Knott's Berry Farm's Entertainment and Education Team, will portray Susan B. Anthony, from 2-3 p.m., in the Valencia Library meeting room, 23743 W. Vincenzo's Pizza Esperienza: Movies to Talk About
Join Movies-to-Talk-About on Thursday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m. for a showing of Trashed, a provocative investigation of one of the fastest growing industries in North America - the garbage industry. The film examines a fundamental element of modern American culture, the disposal of what our society defines as "waste."

At times humorous, but deeply poignant, Trashed examines the American trash flow which is fast approaching a half billion tons annually.

The film will be shown at 6:30 PM at Vincenzo's Pizza Esperienza, 24504 Lyons Ave, in Newhall. Sponsored as a community service by the Unitarian Universalist Church, the movie event is free and open to everyone. Participants may purchase dinner or snacks at Vincenzo's if desired. Free soft drinks are provided.

College of the Canyons: Spring Concert
The COC Symphonic Band will perform well-known wind and percussion-based works, and the Jazz Ensemble will feature works composed and arranged by Dirk Fischer, on Friday, March 21 at 7 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road in Valencia. Star Dance Center: Easter Baskets and Dance Camp
The Star Dance Center will hold their first annual Easter Basket Drive and Free Dance Camp on Saturday, March 15 from 3-5 p.m. at their location, 24264 Lyons Avenue in Newhall. Bring a filled Easter Basket to donate to a needy child, and enjoy a day of free dancing. The camp is open to participants ages 2-12. You must be pre-registered by March 10.
