The Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a celebration noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15. The free event will be held at the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society, 24101 Newhall Ave., Newhall.

The event will feature a Latino-based Christmas celebration, called a Posada. SCVHS will have docents on site to provide tours and a speaker to educate people on SCV and its history. There will be live Christmas music, as well.

‘The Nutcracker Ballet’

Santa Clarita Ballet’s celebrated production of the Nutcracker returns. Follow Marie and her Nutcracker to the magical land of snow and sugar plums. It’s one of my favorite holiday events. My daughter and I have attended the production as a family tradition. The ballet features professional guest artists, magical staging, exquisite costumes and the recognizable composition by Peter Tchaikovsky at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center. Performances are Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. For tickets, call 661-362-5304.
