A Stevenson Ranch man pleaded guilty Wednesday to forcible rape and other charges in the brutal sexual assault last January of a Stevenson Ranch woman.

As part of a plea agreement, Jerry Moon, 19, will be sentenced by San Fernando Superior Court Judge Lloyd Nash to 43 years to life in prison, Deputy District Attorney Julie Kramer said.

Moon entered a plea of guilty to four criminal counts Wednesday, including one count of forcible rape, two counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object by means of force, and one count of forcible oral copulation.

He also admitted that during commission of the crimes he tied and bound his victim and that the sexual assault occurred during commission of a burglary.

Moon is due back in court for sentencing Jan. 30, Kramer said. His next appearance in court will also address restitution in the case.

Moon also must register as a sex offender.

His victim made a statement to the court after the defendant entered the plea, Kramer said.
The woman was assaulted after Moon broke into her home, authorities said. He was arrested by sheriff’s deputies on Feb. 16 and has remained in custody.

The case against Moon began when deputies responded to a residential robbery on Holmes Place during the early hours of Jan. 8 and learned an adult female at the home had been sexually assaulted.

Evidence led Santa Clarita Valley detectives to Moon, who was arrested in February while leaving his home in the 25100 block of Steinbeck Avenue, roughly half a mile from the victim’s residence, and booked at the local Sheriff’s Station jail.

During the investigation, detectives recovered property that appeared to connect Moon to the crimes. DNA evidence was also a factor in the investigation.

Moon was held in custody on $2.45 million bail.
