Although the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center is typically closed on Saturdays, it was the place to be on Dec. 8 as the Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival performed its interpretation of a Dickens classic for Santa Clarita Valley residents.

The Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival’s lively 40-minute performance of “Scrooge’s Long Night” kept the audience engaged and entertained.

We at the SCV Senior Center were pleased to host a performance of this show, currently touring local schools throughout December.

And with that, I want to extend heartfelt thanks to the Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival for providing us with such a quality performance.

It is a pleasure having the opportunity to host such wonderful  cultural programming, and we look forward to a continued relationship with the Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival.

If Saturday’s performance was any indication, “Scrooge’s Long Night” is going to be a successful bit of storytelling for local students.

Thank you to David Stears, executive director of the festival, for running such an excellent program; to local news veteran Carol Rock for promoting the event; to booking coordinator and stage manager Mary Ferguson; and to actors Brandon Pugmire, Mitchell Roché, Jonas Sansone and Kristina Teves, who brought Dickens to life in a new and exciting way.
