Hockey fans going through withdrawal due to the owner-player standoff will have a chance to ease their anguish Sunday as the L.A. Kings close out their “Rink Fan Fests” for 2012 at Ice Station Valencia.

The Kings are collecting unwrapped new toys during the series of appearances around Southern California to be donated to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, the Child Abuse Prevention Center and After-School All-Stars.

Fans who come to the events will get to practice their shots with inflatable pucks and test their skills at portable street hockey rinks, as well as enjoy autograph sessions with Kings broadcasters and the L.A. Kings Ice Crew.

Mascot Bailey will also be on hand.

“The Fan Fests were developed to allow Kings fans to interact with the organization during this time,” Kings Senior Manager Chris Crotty said.

“The Kings teamed up with local ice rinks in various Southern California locations in order to provide access to as many fans as possible.”

The event at Ice Station Valencia, 27745 N. Smyth Drive, runs from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.
