Commit Crime? - Not in the Santa Clarita Valley! Santa Clarita Sheriffs made a list of probationers and parolees in 2012 and they’re checking it twice to find out who's naughty and nice - No time off for Santa Clarita Deputy Sheriffs during the holidays. Deputies from the Santa Clarita Sheriffs Station Special Assignment Team (S.A.T.), Juvenile Intervention Team (J-Team), Crime Prevention Unit (CPU), along with station COBRA Detectives conducted a twenty four location parole / probation compliance operation during the early morning hours on Thursday, December 20, 2012.

This operation is part of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station's on-going proactive efforts to ensure that convicted criminals living in the Santa Clarita Valley are in compliance with the terms and conditions of their probation after release from jail. These types of operations also serve as a deterrent for convicted criminals that may be on the cusp of possibly turning back to a life of crime.

Our primary responsibility as law enforcement is to keep the community safe. Many of the persons contacted in this morning’s operation had been released under the State of California’s (AB-109) Post Release Community Supervision Program. It is our mission to ensure that each of the persons contacted in this morning’s operation were in compliance with the terms and conditions of their probation or parole and to verify their current address, all while keeping the peace and enforcing all applicable laws fairly and impartially.

We are pleased to report that of the persons contacted this morning, all were found to be in compliance. The locations where no one was found to be home will be checked at a later date to ensure compliance and to verify their address.

It is the goal of the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department to assist post release supervised persons in becoming viable members of society. To do this, new programs are being developed and implemented and resources allocated or realigned. Resource guides are available at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and quarterly life skills courses are being developed to provide offenders with the educational tools, employment resources and training to reintegrate into society and reduce recidivism.

“Deputies from around Los Angeles County will continue to work tirelessly throughout the holiday season to ensure the residents of Los Angeles County have a safe and happy holiday season and do not fall victim to crime”
