A 68-year-old man who entered a plea of no contest Tuesday to the felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident has been ordered to undergo a 90-day review in state prison, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office confirmed.

On Tuesday, Jonathan Anker of Newhall appeared in San Fernando Superior Court and pleaded no contest to the felony hit-and-run charge of failing to remain at the scene of a fatal traffic collision.

On Feb. 3, Anker was driving a car that hit and killed 65-year-old Dianda Doane.

Doane was walking in traffic lanes on Orchard Village Road after dark on a rainy February day when she was struck by a car near Dalbey Drive, sheriff’s deputies said at the time of the incident.

At the end of his review, Anker is to appear back in San Fernando Superior Court for sentencing, said Jane Robison of the district attorney’s office.

As part of the plea arrangement, prosecutors offered to seek a maximum two years in State Prison for Anker, she said.

When he returns for sentencing, after arguments and victim impact statements are heard in court, the judge is expected to decide what Anker will ultimately get, she said.
