A suspect wanted for a murder that occurred in San Fernando on October 6, 2012 has been arrested at the Otay Mesa, San Diego, passenger port of entry to Mexico.

At about 4:45 a.m. yesterday, January 22, 2013, United States Customs and Border Protection officers at the Otay Mesa, passenger port of entry, detained 37-year-old Andre Preciado-Arriaga. Preciado arrived at the port of entry as a pedestrian. During the inspection, the CBP officer ran systems checks and was alerted that Arriaga was wanted for an outstanding felony murder warrant.

Shortly before 2:30 on Saturday morning, 27-year-old Diego Martinez was stabbed to death after arguing with a man in the rear parking lot of a business in the 1100 blk of East 1st Street, San Fernando.

Sheriff's Homicide detectives, assisting San Fernando Police Department, identified the suspect several days later and a murder warrant was issued for his arrest.

Homicide detectives responded to Otay Mesa, arrested, and transported Preciado to Lakewood Sheriff's station where he was booked for murder and is being held on $1.7 million bail.

The booking photo will not be released as the incident is still under investigation.
