Two local football players made a statement on Tuesday.

That statement is that they are All-State.

Canyon High senior wide receiver Drew Wolitarsky and Valencia High senior quarterback Sean Murphy were selected as members of the All-State team.

Wolitarsky was selected for the second-team offense and Murphy was selected for the third-team offense.

Wolitarsky joins his quarterback, Cade Apsay, who was selected last week to the All-State Junior team.

The senior wide receiver made 89 catches for 1,275 yards in 2012, which made him the state’s all-time career prep leader in receiving yards (5,147) and receptions (281).

He broke former Taft High standout Steve Smith’s records. Wolitarsky also scored 14 touchdowns.

The senior, who committed to the University of Minnesota this past weekend, was an All-CIF Southern Section Northern Division selection as well as a first-teamer on The Signal’s All-Santa Clarita Valley and Foothill League teams.

Murphy was the All-SCV and Foothill League player of the year, as well as an All-CIF selection.

He passed for 3,936 yards and a school record 38 touchdowns to 14 interceptions, and led the Vikings to their fourth straight Foothill League title and fourth trip to the CIF-Southern Section Northern Division semifinals in five seasons.
