A 15-year-old boy who was hit by a car while riding his bicycle in Valencia remained hospitalized in critical condition today, a spokesman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said.

The boy’s injuries are not expected to be life-threatening, but he did suffer serious brain injury, said Deputy Josh Dubin.

The boy, whose identity is not expected to be disclosed because he is a minor, remains at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, Dubin said.

The bike-rider and an SUV collided shortly after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fairview Place and Waterford Drive, said Deputy Travis Kelly.

The SUV driver, also a minor and described as 17 years old, was not injured, Kelly said.

The incident was being investigated by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Office, and any witnesses were asked to call Kelly at (661) 255-1121.
