Meeting seeks input on library for Newhall
Santa Clarita and the county are co-hosting a community meeting Thursday to gather input for the new library planned in downtown Newhall.

The city and county are planning to build the Newhall Library at the corner of Main Street and Lyons Avenue as part of the city's effort to revitalize the downtown portion of Newhall. The library will replace the smaller existing library on Ninth Street.

"It is important to know what amenities, services and qualities the community is looking for in the new library," City Manager Ken Pulskamp said in a statement. "This process and input is vital in providing a facility the community will support and utilize for years to come."

The city is also gathering input through an online survey available at The meeting will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Hart Hall at William S. Hart Park, located 24151 Newhall Ave.
(formerly San Fernando Road) in Newhall.

Domestic Violence Center raising funds
The Domestic Violence Center of the Santa Clarita Valley is hosting a bowl-a-thon at Valencia Lanes Sunday, April 13, between 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to raise funds for the Domestic Violence Center of the Santa Clarita Valley.

"It will be a great day for friends and family to enjoy a few hours bowling together," says Jorja Harris, the Board of Directors president for the center.

City selling tickets to 'Mamma Mia'
The City of Santa Clarita is selling tickets to see "Mamma Mia" at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza on May 17. The musical tells the story of a girl and her search for her father's identity that culminates on her wedding day.

Tickets for the reserved balcony seating cost $80 for Santa Clarita residents, $95 for non-residents and $85 for non-resident seniors (55+). Transportation by bus is included (meet by 11:45 a.m. at City Hall).
Register before 5 p.m. May 9 at or at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex Aquatics Center, 28050 Center Pointe Parkway.

City offers summer day camp
The City of Santa Clarita is offering Camp Clarita Summer Day Camp on June 16-Aug. 8.

Children ages 3-5 may attend Wee Folks and Little Folks at a price range of $107-$214. Children grades 1-9 may attend the Ranger and Explorer Camps at $158 or $124 for five-day or three-day programs, respectively.

Children in grades 6-9 may attend the Voyager Program at $214 or $180 for five-day or three-day programs, respectively, and $242 for camping trips.

County department hosts job fair at month's end
