How to connect with and understand a teenager’s life will be the primary focus of this year’s “Teen Scene Plugged-In” event, sponsored by the Santa Clarita Blue Ribbon Task Force.

This year’s event will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road.

The event, which used to be called “Teen Scene Unplugged,” typically addresses topics that face teenagers such as gang violence, stress and peer pressure.

Activists in the community, along with the Santa Clarita City Council, formed the task force in 2000 as a way to educate and inform the community on alcohol, tobacco and drug use by teenagers.

Members of the task force include city staff, parents, youth, and representatives from law enforcement, businesses and community organizations.
