The Santa Clarita Rose Society meets once a month at 2:30 p.m. Sundays at the SCV Senior Center, 22900 Market St., Newhall.

March 8: The Greenwoods speak on “The Tournament of Roses” Parade. Chris, Leah and  Liz Greenwood will present an overview of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade.  This pictorial  program will include the many facets of float decoration from the beginning to the completed floral work of art.

The Greenwood family has been involved with the parade via the float that is entered annually by the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs.

Chris started working on the Odd Fellows float in 1963 and has been involved continuously since. He served as committee chairman for seven years, winning more trophies than any other chairman. Leah became involved through her Theta Rho Girls Club in 1965 — she marched in the parade and co-drove the Odd Fellows Float twice.

Liz was raised working on the float.  She has ridden twice and as decoration crew chief. Long-time members of the Pacific Rose Society, all three are ARS consulting rosarians and Chris and Liz are accredited rose judges.

April 13: Ingrid Gonzalez speaking on “Watering Systems and Trellises for Roses.”

Gonzalez is a Consulting Rosarian, a past-president, and proprietor of Primavera Landscaping. She will offer good information on landscaping SCV gardens.
