Welcome Easter Bunny to the SCV

I hope all the Easter eggs have been found and the Easter ham or lamb is cooking in the oven. Did you already bite the ears off your chocolate Easter bunny? My favorite has always been the marshmallow eggs.

It’s nice that the schools will be out next week for spring break. I hope everyone has a fun destination in mind. I’ll be heading to Whidbey Island, which recently was in the national news for a large landslide that destroyed one home and damaged several others.

Luckily, my property is far from the edge of a bluff. However, it is located only a few miles from where the landslide occurred. I wonder if in 100 years, if the bluff keeps eroding, my property could end up as beach front?

Spring is the time for art

The county of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation in cooperation with the Friends of Hart Park will present the second annual Artisan Row Home Arts and Crafts Fair Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14 at William S. Hart Park, at Hart Hall and outside on the patio.

This is an excellent opportunity for regional arts and crafts artists to show and sell their creations.

This event was created to encourage home arts crafters, folk artists, visual artists and others who create handmade fashion accessories, jewelry and gift baskets.

Admission is free to the public.

Artist reception at Le Chene

The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association will hold a Spring Art Festival and Sale on Sunday, April 28, at Le Chene French Cuisine, 12624 Sierra Highway, Agua Dulce.

This one-day-only exhibit will be free to the public and will include approximately 30 Artists’ Association artists showing various art media in the garden level of the restaurant. Art demonstrations are included in the festival, with all pieces available for purchase.

Brunch or lunch may be purchased at a discount of 15 percent at the restaurant during this show.

Reservations for the restaurant are recommended 661-251-4315.

Happy BD Doreetha Daniels!

Happy 97th birthday to one of the founding/charter members of the Agua Dulce Women’s Club, Doreetha Daniels. Daniels is not only a long-time resident (1947) of Agua Dulce, but her friends tell me she remains the same sprightly and endearing woman who, together with a handful of other pioneer women, formed and chartered the club 65 years ago.

Taste of the Town

One of my all-time favorite events, Taste of the Town, will be held 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 5. What could be more fun than eating and drinking your way through the afternoon to benefit the Child & Family Center. The Child & Family Center provides much-needed mental health services to the families of the SCV. For more information visit
