Expect to see lots of spandex and bicycles in town this weekend.

For the third year in a row the Amgen Tour of California is rolling through Santa Clarita, with this year's big draw being a chance to see Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong.

This year, the city will host the start of the Santa Clarita-to-Pasadena leg of the race, which covers 750 miles from Sacramento to Escondido between Feb. 14 and 22.

The several-hundred riders are set to roll out from Town Center Drive at noon Saturday, making a roughly 88-mile trek to Pasadena by way of Acton, the Angeles National Forest and the San Gabriel Mountains.

Monday night, the city is hosting a race-watching party on the patio at Salt Creek Grille from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be giveaways as well as drink and appetizer specials.

Salt Creek Grille is located at 24415 Town Center Dr., next to the Edwards Cinema.

The local organizing committee for the Amgen race is also holding a raffle starting 7 p.m. Thursday at the Vines restaurant at the Hyatt Valencia, located at the corner of McBean Parkway and Town Center Drive.

Local residents should expect rolling delays or closures Saturday between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on the following streets: McBean Parkway between Town Center Drive and Newhall Ranch Road; Newhall Ranch Road between McBean and Bouquet Canyon Road; Bouquet Canyon Road between Newhall Ranch and Vasquez Canyon Road; Vasquez Canyon between Bouquet and Sierra Highway; Sierra Highway from Vasquez Canyon and Sand Canyon Road; Sand Canyon between Sierra and Soledad Canyon Road; Soledad Canyon between Sand Canyon and Stone Crest Road.

Short-term closures are likely between noon and 1 p.m. at the northbound and southbound Highway 14 off-ramps at Sand Canyon Road.
