Hello Saugus. There were only three Part-1 crimes reported this past week in Saugus which is great! There was a burglary in the 27600 of Susan Beth Lane between Friday, 04/19/2013 and Saturday, 04/20/2013. Person(s) unknown broke into a storage shed and stole miscellaneous personal items.

There was a grand theft in the 22700 block of Derby Place on Wednesday, 04/17/2013 at approximately 5:00 p.m. The victim said an acquaintance stole items out of her purse and refused to give them back. The suspect has since left the area and the investigation is ongoing.

There was a grand theft from Saugus High School which was reported this week, however, it occurred last month. Person(s) unknown stole six rolls of white and yellow mesh material from one of the class rooms. The investigation is ongoing and we would like to hear from anyone who may know about this crime. We will not tolerate criminals victimizing our schools and disrupting the educational process.

There were multiple arrests over this past week. One of the arrests that stands out occurred on Monday, 04/15/2013, at approximately 7:00 a.m. Deputies located a vehicle parked in a residential area with the driver slumped over the steering wheel. Upon contacting the driver they observed him attempt to hide a hypodermic needle. Deputies inspected the hypodermic needle and discovered it contained heroin. After conducting a narcotics investigation and searching the vehicle they recovered multiple items of drug paraphernalia. The occupant was arrested and booked at Santa Clarita Valle Sheriff’s Station.
