A 29-year-old woman killed in a fatal crash this week on Sand Canyon Road has been identified as Brittany Lynn Schlumpberger of Santa Clarita, according to a memorial page set up on Facebook.

A memorial page has been set up on Facebook under the name Brittany Schlumpberger. According to that page, plans for a celebration of Schlumpberger's life are pending.

Schlumpberger was killed late Wednesday night when her car slammed into an oak tree on Sand Canyon Road south of Alamo Canyon Road, the same location where another local young man was killed in a crash in January 2012.

Speed was determined to be a factor in that collision, which killed 19-year-old Dakota DeMott.

Ed Winter, assistant chief of investigation for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, said Friday a cause of death had not been determined for Schlumpberger.

Schlumpberger was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, according to a news release from Detective Travis Kelly of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Two officials with the coroner's office said the spelling of the last name was actually "Schlumpburger,” citing an Arizona-issued driver's license, but no one with that last name is listed as living in Santa Clarita, according to and

A Facebook profile under the name “Brittany Schlumpberger” lists a hometown of Canyon Country. It shows a current location of Bullhead City, Ariz.

Posts on that profile allude to the fact that Schlumpberger moved to California recently. Traffic investigators said the car involved in the collision has an Arizona license plate.

Phone calls to a local number listed as belonging to the Schlumpberger family were not returned Friday.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Kelly at (661) 255-1121.
