Parents of a popular woman killed in a single-car crash on Sand Canyon Road last week are inviting the public to join them Saturday in paying tribute to their daughter, Brittany Schlumpberger.

“Brittany touched the lives of so many people — more people than we ever knew,” her cousin, Abbigaile Urioste, said Thursday.

As a result, family members changed their minds about a private funeral service and decided to share the memorial with the public, she said.

A “celebration of Brittany’s life” is scheduled Saturday between noon and 4 p.m. at the family’s home at 26510 Josel Drive in Canyon Country.

Schlumpberger, 29, died May 1 shortly before 11:30 p.m. in a single-vehicle crash on Sand Canyon Road south of Alamo Canyon Road, the same location where 19-year-old Dakota DeMott was killed a little over a year ago.

Urioste described the celebration planned Saturday as an informal event with words of tribute offered by a pastor following a slide show looking back on Schlumpberger’s life.

It’s also scheduled to include karaoke, since “she would have loved karaoke,” her cousin said.

Anyone wanting to help out or who needs more information is invited to call Urioste at 661-478-9972.
