Toll roads are discriminatory

I urge all drivers to contact the California Transportation Commission (and any local representative) to voice their disapproval of Assembly Bill AB 680, which gives private entities the right to charge drivers to use the highways they are already paying to build and maintain.

Toll roads discriminate against those persons with limited funds.

Several months ago, my husband and I were given an opportunity to invest in some infrastructure companies that build and maintain toll roads, bridges, etc. (We declined).

We were told they were among the largest-growing asset classes which offer attractive returns for an investor.

History has proven that many governmental agencies have made poor choices by giving away or highly discounting public assets.

I believe strongly in private enterprise, but some things that affect the public should be controlled by the public and not sold to businesses.

Toll roads won’t affect me personally because I don’t work in the San Fernando Valley, but I deeply care for the drivers who will be negatively affected financially should they be implemented, as Metro has approved for Interstate 5.

That is my opinion.
