Good morning Saugus. I hope that the traffic congestion due to the Amgen Tour did not disrupt your travels too much yesterday. The Amgen Tour is a great event which brings a new experience and revenue to Santa Clarita.

There were only two reported Part-1 crimes over the past week in Saugus. There was a robbery in the 26500 block of Bouquet Canyon Road on Thursday, 05/09/2013. While eating at a local dining establishment the victim was approached by an acquaintance who demanded money. The suspect then grabbed the victim’s backpack and ran outside. Once outside, the victim was assaulted by three other suspects while trying to obtain his property back. Detectives are following up on this case.

There was a residential burglary in the 19700 block of Paige Street on Tuesday, 05/07/13. Police were called after an alert resident saw two males taking a safe from his neighbor’s house. Deputies responded and located the vehicle fleeing from the scene. After a vehicle pursuit the suspects fled on foot near the Westfield Mall. A containment was established and all three suspects were taken into custody without incident. Again, between the work of alert residents and dedicated Sheriff personnel we are sending a, “Not in Santa Clarita!” message to criminals.

If you have any information regarding the above mentioned crimes please call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
