Women Empowerment Build slated for Saturday

The Santa Clarita and San Fernando charter of Habitat for Humanity will join in the 2013 Women Empowerment Build this Saturday, which will focus on female veterans and those who have experienced loss during wartime.

A registration fee of $35 per person provides participation, a T-shirt, a pink hard hat, continental breakfast and lunch.

The lunch includes six female speakers who will be sharing their experiences of working in non-traditional roles:

- Lindsay Rhodes, host, anchor, and reporter for the NFL Network,

- Millie Diaz Taylor, WWII Navy nurse and Gold Star Mother,

- Sharon Langenbeck, retired section manager for mechanical engineering at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory,

- Cheri Fleming, WE Build chairwoman and

- Laurene Weste, Santa Clarita City Council member
