Saugus crime report: Attempted theft from a vending machine

Hello Saugus, after reviewing the latest crime rates I am happy to report that the Saugus area is down 49.5% as compared to the crime rate this time last year. With the help of patrol and alert citizens, combined with specialized units such as the Santa Clarita CIT Team, SAT Team and Crime Prevention Unit we have been able to bring the crime rate down to an all-time low. Let’s keep up the good work!

There were five reported Part-1 crimes last week. There was a residential burglary in the 26800 block of Avenida Terreza on Sunday, 05/19/13. The victim stated that someone broke into her garage through an open door and stole her skateboard.

There was a burglary to the trailer at the GoodWill, located on the corner of Bouquet Canyon Road and Seco Canyon Road. An employee discovered that someone had pried open the metal door to the storage trailer. It is unknown at this time what was taken.

There was a petty theft in the 27600 block of Bouquet Canyon Road on Wednesday, 05/15/13. The victim had his bicycle stolen from the front of the grocery store at the location while he was shopping. Detectives are currently working on locating the suspect who was caught on security video stealing the bicycle.

There was an attempt theft at Saugus High School on Wednesday, 05/15/13. It was discovered that someone tried to pry open the coin slot to one of the school’s vending machines. The school’s security videos are being reviewed to help locate the suspect(s).

There were multiple arrests in the Saugus area over the past week. The arrests included narcotics, receiving stolen property, spousal assault, vandalism and DUI.
