Canyon Country West crime report: Arson reported on Golden Triangle Road

Good afternoon Canyon Country. There were ten reported Part-1 crimes over the past week. There was a homicide in the 19300 block of Newhouse Street on Thursday, 05/16/13. The victim was allegedly shot by his son at the location. The suspect then fled the location. After an extensive search the suspect was located and taken into custody. There were two residential burglaries over the past week. The first occurred in the 19800 block of Sandpiper Place on Monday night, 05/13/13, into Tuesday morning, 05/14/13. The victim discovered that someone had forced open the lock to her garage and stole miscellaneous items from her unlocked vehicle. The second residential burglary occurred in the 36800 block of Isabella Parkway on Wednesday, 05/15/13. The victim discovered that her front door was open when she returned home from work. After closer inspection it looked as if someone had kicked open the door. It is unknown if entry was made into the residence.

There was an aggravated assault which occurred in the 27000 block of Crossglade Avenue on Monday, 05/13/13. The victim was hit from behind while walking into the condo complex at the location. He did not get a good look at the suspect, however detectives are checking for evidence or possible witnesses of the incident.

There was an arson in the 21600 block of Golden Triangle Road on Tuesday, 05/07/13. A small fire was started in one of the storage containers at the location. Four people were seen on video entering the storage container prior to the fire being started. Detectives are actively working the case.

There was an attempt theft of a vehicle from the park-and-ride at the corner of Golden Valley Road and the 14 Freeway. The victim discovered his driver’s side door lock had been broken. He also discovered that the ignition had been punched and there were items missing from the vehicle.

There were multiple arrests in the Canyon Country area over the past week. The arrests include murder, narcotics, assault and domestic violence along with multiple arrests for outstanding warrants.
