College of the Canyons' Community Education Department is now offering online drivers education and traffic school.

A student may access the online driver's education training course 24 hours a day, seven days a week with quizzes and tests available to be retaken until passing.

"The online version will not be any shorter or any easier (than the more traditional means of driver's education)," said Gina Bogna, director of community education at COC. "But the advantage is 24 hours a day, seven days a week access."

Upon completion of the course, a certificate is given and practice permit tests are available as the student will still need to pass the California DMV permit test. The student also must complete the mandatory hours of driving and pass the DMV driver's license test.

The course will cost $85 and is licensed by the California Department of Motor Vehicles.

COC's community education department is also offering DMV-approved online traffic school to students at $39. The multiple-choice test at the end of the course may also be taken as many times as the student needs to pass.

Upon passing, the student will receive a completion notice, which will also be sent to meet the court requirements. COC already offers in-person courses at its Valencia and Canyon Country locations.
