Two spot fires were reported on the shoulder of northbound Templin Highway today, Los Angeles County Fire Department Supervising Fire Dispatcher Cheryl Sims said about 1:15 p.m.

Interstate 5 lanes were blocked or closed at about 2:30 p.m. because of the two brush fires in Santa Clarita, California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada said.

On the southbound I-5, the No. 3 and No. 4 lanes were blocked, and the No. 4 lane on northbound I-5 south of Templin Highway was closed until further notice, Posada said.

There was no containment of the Templin Highway fire reported at about 2:30 p.m., said Kyle Sanford, Los Angeles County Fire Department Supervising Fire Dispatcher. But the blaze was being held to 12.9 acres, and mopping up was reported, Sanford said.

No structures were threatened, and no injuries were reported, Sanford said.

U.S. Forest Service firefighters were handling the response, and county firefighters were assisting, Sanford said.

The exact time of call-out and the acreage on the two spot fires were not immediately available.
