CHICO, Calif. (AP) — The three people whose bodies were found inside a burning car about 90 miles north of Sacramento have been identified as two teenagers and the mother of one of the boys.

Sacramento television station KCRA reports ( ) that family members identified the victims as Sacramento residents 17-year-old Richard James Jr., 15-year-old Roland Lowe, and 46-year-old Colleen Lowe.

KCRA says Butte County prosecutors revealed in court Friday that James had spent several summers visiting the man who is being held without bail in the deaths, 72-year-old Donald Clark of Centerville.

Authorities think the relationship between Clark and the boy soured last year, but they do not yet know why the three went to see him this month.

They allege that Clark shot them when they arrived, then drove the bodies to another location and set fire to the car.
