Is seems that spring has nearly sprung.

The trees are still bare and the bulbs are only peeking through the soil, but I heard the poppies are in bloom in the Antelope Valley.
It might be worth a Sunday drive to see the fields awash in the golden blooms.

Celebrity Waiter Dinner is out of this world
I loved the alien theme of this year’s Celebrity Waiter Dinner. I went in a fairly simple costume of black skirt and blouse with a light-stick necklace and glow-in-the-dark multicolored necklaces worn as a headband.

I was told I looked more like a space-age hippie then a true alien — but I didn’t feel like painting myself green. “Men in Black” — rather than aliens — seemed to dominate the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Valencia, but everyone was still in the “costume ball” spirit.

Kudos to Celebrity Waiter Dinner chairmen Chris Ball and Bob Kellar for an outstanding event. It was wonderful to see event chairs emeritus Rick Patterson and Erica Betz still supporting the cause as well.

Space station hosts and others
The Celebrity Waiter Dinner wouldn’t have been a success without the table sponsors and others who supported the event.

Kudos to Mike De Lorenzo, of Santa Clarita Studios, for donating the green screen and the set walls for the decontamination chamber; to John Hartigan, of Ultimate Effects, for providing the decontamination equipment; College of the Canyons student volunteers for serving as the decontamination team; as well as Princess Cruises, Secure Horizons/United Health Care, Erica Betz/Rick Patterson, Comfort Keepers/Summerhill Villa, Santa Clarita Builders Exchange, Wolf Towing, pacifica Senior Living Santa Clarita, Mike and Gigi Bost, The Signal, SCV Rotary Club, BPOE Elks, Santa Clarita Methodist Church/Bill Lively, Southern California Edison/The Gas Company, Union Bank, Techlogic Energy, Williams Homes, Wildcat Business Group/Courier-Messenger, Inc., KHTS 1220/Kellar-Davis, Gren Hasson & Janks LLP, Jasmine Foster/College of the Canyons, The Magazine of Santa Clarita, city of Santa Clarita, Facey Medical, Poole and Shaffery, Valencia Pharmacy and the Senior Center Foundation Board.
