What would you like to see in the middle of the Newhall roundabout?

Carlitos: October 20, 2013 10:50 p.m.

Other: A Pillory for all the local politicians who spend public funds on unnecessary art, Arts District, public works (including this unneeded roundabout at an unimportant intersection), and the city library. Display of offenders should be coordinated with the equally useless Farmers Market so that left over rotting produce can be re-purposed.

jackadams: October 21, 2013 12:53 p.m.

heads of politicians on sticks

BBennetts: October 22, 2013 10:31 a.m.

We should put a statue of Frank Ferry's big ego there. That is, if the center of the roundabout is large enough to accommodate this.

gmcolvin: October 22, 2013 1:11 p.m.

I think a large Oak tree would look great.

nadiya: October 22, 2013 3:13 p.m.

A man standing beside his saddled horse in the shade of an oak tree!

chefgirl358: October 22, 2013 4:03 p.m.

An oak tree

chefgirl358: October 22, 2013 4:08 p.m.

What I'd really like to NO STUPID ROUNDABOUT! What a colossal waste of money! Besides the fact that they suck. The one in Castaic constantly has cars driving the wrong way. Our city "leaders" have wasted MILLIONS of dollars...HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars, on a ridiculous pipe dream vision of downtown Newhall, aka little TJ. If you build it they will come...DOES NOT APPLY HERE. Get your heads out of the dark and get your hands out of our wallets and stop making stupid decisions for this community that no one wants. This includes: bike lanes on Decoro, back-in parking, seceding from the county library system, building the Newhall library in its current form, and now this stupid roundabout!

chefgirl358: October 22, 2013 4:09 p.m.

Oh yeah, I nearly forgot the ugly "artwork" bug on Bouquet that is going to impale someone in an accident someday.

lars: October 22, 2013 5:49 p.m.

awesometown answer: a guy next to a horse drinking from a water feature under an oak tree that is being landscaped by a mexican gardener with a chinese railroad worker on the other side panning for gold. the guy is holding a testtube checking for chlorides in the water. --edited.

aci2nuo: October 22, 2013 6:16 p.m.

Some greenery with a water feature, some big boulders; sort of park like.

cms96: October 22, 2013 7:21 p.m.

How about a flag pole with the American Flag on it? Oh wait! Not allowed to do that anymore in this country.

MRNIMBY: October 22, 2013 7:58 p.m.

Something that would represent the racism and lack of tolerance this "awesome" town has running through it.

OnAir77: October 22, 2013 8:09 p.m.

The problem with an art piece is that art is subjective and cost aside, you'd never please everybody. Proper landscaping or a water feature would be a safer bet.
I for one am glad to see that area being revitalized, it has a lot of potential and could become a thriving commercial center with a few sorely needed esthetic upgrades.

ckutylo: October 22, 2013 8:32 p.m.

A statue of William S. Hart, perhaps riding on a horse, as he was instrumental in the history of this community.

valencia56: October 22, 2013 10:48 p.m.

I would like to donate a large, healthy oak tree from my back yard in Newhall. Our neighbor is complaining so I would much rather donate a perfectly formed oak tree for this location.

Marilyn: October 22, 2013 11:53 p.m.

I think we should keep it SIMPLE. . . (NOT like the gawdy library at the other end). WHAT'S PRETTIER THAN OUR AMERICAN FLAG (flying alone) ON A BIG TALL POLE? huh?

livelovelead: October 23, 2013 4:38 p.m.

a nice oak tree
