This summer, the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce will host the third annual Patriot Luncheon on July 11 at the Hyatt Regency Valencia.

Sponsored by Princess Cruises, the event will honor local heroes from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Afghanistan War and the Iraq War, as well as presenting a check to our 2013 Ian Gelig Memorial Scholarship winner.

Fred Arnold, chairman of the board this year, was inspired to create this event, and it came about because of his passion for our service men and women and the sacrifices they and their families make to ensure U.S. freedoms.

The Chamber intends to use the profits from this event to fund an ongoing scholarship program.

The SCV Chamber of Commerce Ian Gelig Scholarship Program was named in honor of a local, fallen veteran Sgt. Ian T.D. Gelig, an Army paratrooper who was killed in Afghanistan in March 2010. The program is designed to honor all Santa Clarita Valley veterans by providing financial support to veterans and immediate family members who are pursuing higher education.

Reservations are required as this event will sell out quickly. Please RSVP to For further information and sponsorship opportunities, please contact the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce at 661-702-6977.
